Welcome to Life Quest

Life Quest, Inc. was founded in 1973 to meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in Southwest New Mexico. With offices in Silver City and Deming, we serve individuals and families living in Grant, Luna, Hidalgo and Catron Counties.

Our services include early childhood intervention, providing critical services to children from birth to age three, adult residential services, a spectrum of vocational and supported employment options, community integration, service coordination and respite for all the families we serve.

Life Quest is a community-based nonprofit organization.   We are dedicated to empowering individuals and families with or at risk for developmental disabilities, to maximize their independence and foster their integration within the community.
 
 

Our Vision 

Life Quest is a viable part of and resource to the overall community. It is a bridge to resources and support for people with disabilities, their families and the agencies that serve them. Life Quest is recognized as a model program, a leader in the community of people with disabilities, and a premier provider of services. The people we serve are fully integrated and included into the broader community. They are independent, choosing their own path, fully participating in community life and acting as a resource to the community, while all their needs are met through natural and agency supports. The broader community welcomes and integrates people with disabilities and presents no barriers to full inclusion.

Our Philosophy

We believe in the inherent and full community membership of all persons with or at risk for disabilities. With community membership go the full rights and responsibilities of citizenship. We find no justification for any measure of prejudice or discrimination, and see our role as avocation for full citizenship for those we serve. It remains the responsibility of those we serve to achieve full integration and citizenship, and it is our role to empower and support those we serve.  The community we work with includes families, friends, educators, and employers of those we serve. Each person we serve has a right to function at her/his fullest level of interest and ability. Our role is to support individuals and families in the process of self-determination. We strive for an organizational environment in which decisions are made to advance the interest of those we serve and not those of the organization. We honor staff as key to the organization’s success.
